Comprehensive rehabilitation of an emblematic building by Josep Antoni Coderch, restoring its modern essence and heritage value with technical rigour and architectural sensitivity.
The project involved the comprehensive rehabilitation of one of the most representative buildings of post-war Catalan modern architecture: Els Pescadors, designed by Josep Antoni Coderch. The main challenge was to intervene in a building of high historical and architectural value without altering its essence, respecting its original conception while adapting it to current technical and safety requirements.
The intervention focused on the recovery of the common areas and the restitution of the spirit of the original project. Inappropriate additions were removed, roofs, balconies and railings were repaired, structures were consolidated, and façades were comprehensively cleaned.
One of the most significant aspects was the reinstallation of the guided rope blinds, a distinctive element of Coderch’s design, which were faithfully reproduced to preserve the formal and functional coherence of the whole.
The result is a building that retains its architectural identity while improving its durability, efficiency and safety.
At CERCLE GESPROMAT, we assumed the comprehensive management of the project, acting as intermediaries and coordinators between the client, technical teams, public authorities and contractors.
Our role went beyond technical supervision: we ensured a consensual, respectful and rigorous process that made it possible to reconcile heritage preservation with contemporary technical requirements.
Thanks to this management, the Els Pescadors building has recovered its aesthetic coherence and its symbolic value as a key work in Coderch’s legacy and in the history of modern architecture in Barcelona.
